Where can you go to get news and information when the Legacy media and Big Tech are censoring content?
First of all, I would personally recommend you save all your "stuff" in more than one place (external hard drive, flash drives, CDs, servers, etc).
You might want to download or record broadcasts with critical information in them, so that if they are taken down, you still have the content. Go to websites and create accounts - subscribe - so that if the platform you have been watching is banned, you can still access and continue to keep up-to-date on that content. If you post, keep files for yourself so that if the posts disappear the things you created are not lost. If you can, build your own server or seek out those who have servers to host you outside of the entities (like AWS) who have recently simply cut people off. That said, here are (currently) some alternatives and web sites you may want to check out. I've also noted a few sites worth checking out. |
Minds - www.minds.com/
According to Wikipedia, "Minds is a cross-platform distributed social networking service. The service has been described as an alt-tech platform. Users can earn money or cryptocurrency for using Minds, and tokens can be used to boost their posts or crowdfund other users. Minds has been described as more privacy-focused than mainstream social media networks." lol - Wikipedia warns you might find a lot of "far right" people there. MeWe - mewe.com/
Touting themselves as a privacy focused social network, Wikipedia describes them thus: "MeWe is an American alt-tech social media and social networking service owned by Sgrouples, a company based in Culver City, California. MeWe's light approach to content moderation has made it popular among conspiracy theorists, particularly the anti-vaccine movement, as well as American conservatives. The site gained popularity in Hong Kong in November 2020." |
Locals - locals.com/
Locals offers users the chance to set up and participate in communities of people with like interests. Some communities have a subscription fee. Creator Dave Rubin says the fees, which are generally small, help keep some of the trolls out - though people who do that sort of thing can be excluded from the communities, too.
GAB - gab.com
With their own servers, Gab (which is an alternative to Twitter) has managed to dodge the initial mass censorship Big Tech has executed on those they disagree with.
Parler - www.parler.com
I'm including Parler, even though we all know that AWS and others have recently ganged up on them to remove them from the internet. Hopefully this company, and its millions of users, will get justice and be able to use the service in the near future.

This is not an endorsement of any of these sites/tools. You should check them out and make your own decisions about which, if any, might suit you.
For publishing and following video content, you might want to try one of these alternatives to YouTube:
Rumble - rumble.com/ New Tube - newtube.app/media/popular/1?media=all&category=overview&within=24hour |
I have seen a lot of people moving to Rumble - no so much to NewTube yet. Many people who have had problems with YouTube are now on Rumble. Both sites are worth watching as alternatives keep growing.
Also, you might have your own work noticed by more people on platforms like these which are not as saturated as platforms like YouTube are. |
